The Aftermath of Web Visions 2006

Monday July 24, 2006 / 11 Comments
Note:

I came across Elaine Nelson’s site where she live-blogged the presentation and fairly accurately I might add.

Another conference is down, and it feels like things are getting back under control. I love SXSW, but Web Visions was amazing in a different way. It’s a smaller conference, so there were a lot more opportunities for discussions with some really talented people.

I’ve posted the slides from my presentation, and will be wrapping up some related work this week. The slides are a little light on details, but they’re still worth scoping out. Similarly, the page is pretty short on content right now, but I’ll be turning it into the home for all of my front-end architecture information as time goes on.

If you missed the presentation at Refresh or Web Visions, I’ll be giving it again, with some slight improvements of course, in September at the Webmaster Jam Session here in Dallas.

Omnigraffle and Visio versions of the wireframe templates and stencils I use on all of my projects. There’s even a few examples included for good measure. More about Wireframe & Page Description Diagram Stencils and Templates

I love your slides. It looks like they were hand-made. I wish more people were like you. I despise PowerPoint-based slides.

Sorin Ionescu

Fantastic presentation! I’m sorry I wasn’t there to see it.

Carl

Aw, you quoted me in a slide: how sweet!

Seriously, it looks like it was a great presentation. I wish I could have been there.

Jeremy Keith

Wait… there was a conference in Portland? ;)

It was good to see you Garrett. There were _____ times had by all.

Jeremy Hubert

Garrett, good to finally meet you. Your presentation was great, it kept me awake which is impressive…

I’m in Dallas now, just flew in last night. I’ll be here all week, so if you are ever close to the airport, let me know and we can catch a beer at the hotel bar, on me. If not, it was good seeing you and I’ll see you around more.

Cheers

Joshua

Still yawning after your presentation, I’m not sure if I’ll ever recover… ;)

ah, humor ‘tis a wonderful thing, wouldn’t you agree? I had a blast, again, not only because of the drinking/dancing/waxing-philosophical, but because of the uncanny resemblance you and I have to Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller. We rock.

Dan Rubin

Thanks for the link to my notes! I really enjoyed your presentation; it gave me some things to think about in my work and on my personal projects.

Elaine Nelson

Great presentation. Sorry I missed Webvisions. Have a question though: what font is the hand written text in. I looks lovely!

Bill Bulman

Joshua – I won’t be making it out there at all this week, but it was good meeting you as well. I’m sure I’ll be seeing you around.

Dan – Just because it was over your head doesn’t mean it was a boring presentation. ;)

Elaine – No, thank you for posting your notes. :)

Bill – Marydale.

Garrett

It was awesome meeting you, Garrett and I only wish we would have had more time to talk. Thanks for the kick ass presentation at Webvisions. I thought your graphical representation of all the front-end architecture touch points was especially effective. On a side note, I still say you look more like Karl Urban than Vince Vaughn ;)

Hope to see you again soon.

Matthew Anderson

Great to meet and hang out in Portland – I really enjoyed your presentation. Would be cool to have a longer session about organizing front-end architecture in a more hands-on way. Hopefully our paths will cross again.

Until then, remember, advertising is not dead ;-).
