Design Details: Jaredigital

Friday June 9, 2006 / 4 Comments

There’s a design recently that has been haunting my dreams like a little cute little bunny with fangs, huge terrible fangs, and it can jump really far, and it’s just chasing me because it’s so weird, and right, and wrong all at the same time, and I just want to stare at it all day long.

It’s the personal website of Jared Christensen. In fact, he’s done so well, it’s inspired me to to start thinking more about details in design and posting about them. Since I’m not much of a designer, it’s easier to showcase work done by more talented individuals, and I’m starting with Jared.

I’ll be using a newly created flickr account (garrettdimoncom) to store and document the reviews in sets. Check out the first review. I’ve put my commentary for each photo, and conveniently enough it’s already setup to allow for comments on individual details thanks to the wonderful flickr.

Just to set expectations, I’ll go ahead and mention I’m doing this for fun as much as education, and the commentary will show that. I’m hoping that this can help me improve my skills as well as offer insight for others.

Featured Stuff - Resources: Wireframes & Page Description Diagrames

Omnigraffle and Visio versions of the wireframe templates and stencils I use on all of my projects. There’s even a few examples included for good measure. More about Wireframe & Page Description Diagram Stencils and Templates

It will be interesting to revisit this after a number of people have put their own comments in. I hope Jared’s up for it!

Jared has done great work with the site.

Garrett who’s next? :D

It’s an awesome idea to separate the details and allow commenting on each of them. Subscribing to the feed :)
