About this Site

My old business card says it best. I don’t really believe in traditional “titles” per se, so our cards offer descriptions instead.

Garrett Dimon is on a mission to make the Web a better place. Armed with usability and efficiency, he’s convinced that if it needs instructions, it doesn’t work. That’s why everything he does – from information architecture to site development – is elegant in its simplicity and a complete joy for the user. When he’s not obsessed with usability, he can be found playing basketball or crusading for better content. If it’s about the Web, he’s all over it.

Work

I’ve been working on the web since 1998. I graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a degree in Computer Science in May of 2000 and went to work for Sapient in Denver, CO.

After a brief time there, I bounced around and spent a few years running my own little web development company, YourTotalSite. Today, YTS is simply a repository for little bits of information I’ve picked up over the years.

Then I worked for for Bright Corner, a small technology consulting company just outside of Dallas, TX which was later acquired by Geniant, a leading technology consulting company in Dallas.

Other Professional Involvement

I love what I do, and enjoy sharing what I learn. I try to stay active in the community, attend and present at conferences and workshops, write about the web, create free resources, and generally help the web move forward.

Workshops, Conferences, Events, and More

I have a passion for sharing knowledge and helping others learn from my mistakes. I love attending conferences and workshops as well as presenting. I’ve been involved in presenations and panels at several industry events and am looking forward to many more.

Refresh Dallas

Refresh is a community of web designers and developers here in the DFW metroplex with a focus on standards and user experience. We have monthly meetings with presentations and discussions to help bring web standards some much deserved attention.

Refresh started as the brain child of Eris Stassi due to a lack of any kind of web design community here in Dallas. After we got the group off the ground, numerous other cities have since followed suit and used the Refresh name to start a loose affiliation of groups around the country.

Digital Web

I also write the View Source Column for Digital Web Magazine where I discuss CSS, HTML, DOM Scripting, and all things front-end.

Stay classy and thanks for stopping by, but mainly, stay classy.
